In a democratic system, communication and the sharing of dialogue between people are essential, as are the acceptance of diversity and the freedom of individual and private space. The existence of the private sphere is unconvincing without the existence of the public sphere. A public sphere can be any space where an individual can express, exchange ideas, and conceive of both the public and the private in relational terms. The public sphere is the socialized expression of individuals’ “reciprocally constituted autonomy.” Through the handmade art book, the artist portrays his own visual experience in relation to this concept. He assembles scattered narrations and accounts related to his subject, binds them together, and creates a new narration that is non-linear in form.
