His works have been exhibited in galleries, museums, and cultural institutions across India and abroad, and are held in several private and public collections, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Lyon, France. His artistic practice often combines painting, drawing, text, installation, and sequential imagery, creating narratives that unfold across space and time.

Banerjee has participated in and been invited to several prestigious international festivals and exhibitions, including the Angoulême International Comics Festival, France (2015), and the Lyon BD Festival, France (2018). These engagements have established his work within a global conversation on comics, visual narratives, and contemporary art.

A major focus of his recent practice has been the visual reinterpretation of the Mahabharata. In collaboration with noted scholar Sibaji Bandyopadhyay, he has been developing an ambitious long-form graphic retelling of the epic that combines rigorous research with a distinctive visual language. The first volume, Vyasa: The Beginning, was published by Penguin India in 2017, followed by Panchali: The Dice Game in 2022. The project seeks to reimagine one of the world's most influential narratives through the lens of contemporary visual culture, exploring questions of power, identity, violence, gender, and morality.

His engagement with narrative art extends beyond the Indian epic tradition. His notable publications include By Water, By Fire, Count of Monte Christo, Wind in the Willows created in collaboration with acclaimed American script writer Jason Lendsel and published by Plough Books, New York, as well as Nelson Mandela, published by 21g, reflecting his interest in historical memory, resistance, and social justice.

Alongside his publishing practice, Banerjee has been actively involved in the contemporary art scene through exhibitions, installations, lectures, and curatorial collaborations.
